10:22a Spamming for Betas
So I just finished a piece of BDSM porn. It's very sensual, maybe in the "Sex Magic" end of the kink spectrum? But, being as I've never been flogged and, not being much of a masochist, not likely to enjoy it that much if I were... I don't entirely know how to write a climax-from-flogging.
I wrote the story for my girlfriend - that's us in my icon - who kindly explained what such a climax feels like for her.
None the less, I'd appreciate it if someone(s) would take a gander at the thing and let me know how I did, since I would like to try submitting this for publiction in a little while (obviously, I'll have to either lock the post or take it down, at that point, though).
Concrit is good. (Of course, if you *like* what I did, fanmail is good, too. ;-)
The Scent of Cedar.
Thanks so much, folks.

9:58a Feh
Something happened to my work machine over the weekend. All my bookmarks: gone All my quicklinks: gone
My archived data is still there. My work stuff is still there. Big chunks of my tweaked environment need rebuilding.
I am tempted to buy myself a new work laptop just in spite.

I am actually wishing I could connect with someone right now. I need to get plugged in and recharged. Its going on three years and I feal like crawling out of my skin, or atlest chaining down the first responsive male i run into. I'm so pathetic. I'm so square im cubed. I'm so square I got into the wroung croud in HS and turned them around

6:44a Nature
I was raised with an appreciation for nature. I generally approve of most furry, feathery, or scaly wild critters that are not actually trying to eat me. The exception to this generality is Frickin Woodpeckers at 6 am on a Saturday!

11:10p I don't post often but I saw this and I just had to post it here.
Falling under the poly (and geek) part of bipolypagangeek....
I was browsing Fandom_Secrets today and saw an interesting secret on threesomes. I read the comments directed to that particular secret and felt that some of the things said by a certain user were worth sharing here. ( Only very small pockets of polyamory as societal trends....(more like shared sexual resources) ) It really caught my eye and my fancy, considering things like... "shared sexual resources" totally describe how I feel about all of my partners, despite the fact that we've not actually done anything sexual. (Long distance relationships make that kind of hard after all).
I've tried talking to this user but she's very convinced that her anthropological and sociological sources know what they're talking about as opposed to say... someone who's actually polyamorous and knows other groups of people who are as well.
So question would be, am I being overly judgmental about what she said or did I really get the gist of her message after all?

12:24p Weird behavior
My main computer has started getting "odd".
After running for a couple of days, Firefox quits loading sites. It'll act like it is loading but the page doesn't change. New tabs don't load anything. Existing tabs will take a url, and then change it back to the one that was there before.
IE and Opera won't load pages if I start them after this.
And Pegasus mail reports "error 2747" if I try to fetch mail.
But at the same time, chat still works. And so does semagic (I'm posting this from the machine after the latest instance of the problem).
But the only way to get the browser or mail to work once the symptoms appear is to reboot.
Two other odd things:
MSconfig shows three *empty* startup items. disabling them has no effect on the problem.
And around the time this started happening, I had a couple of software installs fail. I tried running the install but nothing ever came up. One was an update to Download Accelerator Pro.
Machine showed as free of viruses when I did a scan with F-prot in safe mode.
Any ideas?

9:34a Morning drive commentary from Da Kid
Will and I have been discussing the kids who pick on him and what they say and how they say it. We talked about peer pressure and about kids doing what the group does even if they don't want to do it because they do want to be liked. We talked about kids giving and getting respect to and from each other. We talked about bullies and kids who try and make themselves big by making other kids feel bad. Mostly, Will talked and I listened.
"I can accept being small but I can't take having it rubbed in my face."
"I should stick with my friends. There are not as many of them as the big group of boys who don't like me, but they are smarter and stronger than they are. It is the smart and strong small group versus the large group of normal kids."
"First impressions are very important. If we can show a new kid that we are better even though we are not as many, he will join us."
"I am what the other kids call a teacher's pet."
One of the hardest parts of raising Will is just letting him talk. I want to give my input and guide him, but really listening to him is more important at this point. Besides, listening to Will is one of the joys of my existence.

10:57p Poly on the news - SE Wisconsin
Channel 4/WTMJ is doing something on poly/open marriages tomorrow night on their 10 pm news. I have no idea what kind of spin it will have, since they just did a bit of a teaser for it tonight. "This is is wife. This is his girlfriend. And it's all out in the open. How some Wisconsin couples are changing the face of marriage." That kind of thing. Anyhoo, thought some of the local folks might be interested in catching it.

9:01p Trivia game
On the bus ride home from a field trip Will's campmates played a Trivia game. The question Will offered was "What is the formula for calculating the hypotenuse?" The question Will answered was "Name the rock band that is named after a heavy metal and a flying machine."
I'm not sure which of these I am more proud.

4:12p In the Philly Area?
Sorry! Edit: BiUnity of Philadelphia is an organization for bisexuals, their friends and families. We have social events as well as discussion groups. Anyone who is supportive of our community is welcome!
Here are the listings as they sit now. Sometimes dates/times/locations change so keep an eye on the list for individual postings. Many of the non-discussion group meeting events have a 4 person threshold--meaning, if 4 peeps don't sign up by a given date, the event will be canceled. So, if you are planning to attend an event, please speak up and then check the list a couple of days prior to see if it has been canceled due to low attendance. If there is a type of event you would like to see in '10, please let us know!

8:16a Backup Software Recommendations?
Hi friends. I have a nifty new external hard drive. My laptop runs Vista. I'd love some recommendations for backup software that will run the back up automatically based on whatever schedule I set. Any suggestions? Thanks! *kisses*

4:25p summer in Kyoto...
...really is as sticky and humid and wretched as promised. It got up to 35C today, and I'm so hot I'm actually queasy.
Fuck the electric bill. A/C it is.
Tomorrow I think I will enjoy the delicious cooling A/C in a movie theatre while I watch Harry Potter. Hopefully the rest of Kyoto will be too distracted by Gion Matsuri to compete with me for seats.

8:44a New Foster
Mittens is an approximately 8 week old female kitten. She is ready for a forever home.
Lance is an approximately 5 year old, male doberman pinscher. He barely knew his name Friday when he arrived. We are working on learning his name as well as the commands look and sit. He is very sweet with no dominance issues. He gets along well with my dog Phoenix and the cats. He ate his first meal with Mittens in his food bowl. He will be getting neutered as it is better for his health.

8:25a Shoreleave
Will had a great time at Shore Leave. I had a great time at Shore Leave. Will spent time with his grandmother. I spent time with my mother. Will spent time in children's programming. I spent time in the bar. Will played Cthulu Munchkin. I played poker. Will hung out with other quirky, nerdy kids. I hung out with terri_osborne, tiggerallyn, kradical, Marco Palmieri, Geoff Trowbridge, David Mack and Glenn Hauman and various other interesting individuals.
We both came away very satisfied with the weekend.

3:55p A March For Pennsic Opening Ceremonies
Greetings, and apologies for duplicate postings:
Mistress Shannon Gallowglass was kind enough to publish the lyrics to "Follow The Tyger" in the July Pikestaff as a way of making the words available to anyone who might want to perform the song during the march to Opening Ceremonies (we need singers and/or drummers and/or pipers and/or shawm players and/or crumhorn players...).
Thanks to Mistress Rufina and Master John (Elys), the tune is available to download (one vocal, one instrumental) in mp3 format at http://www.ostgardr.org/music/follow-the-tyger/
If you are not otherwise committed (you know, volunteering, teaching, sleeping) on Sunday morning of War Week and want to perform, please contact me at sndsfnny AT msn DOT com.
Respectfully Submitted,
Judith Fitzhenry the Uncertain, Minstrel of Queens ('strewth...I live in Queens County...never mind...8) (ETA different userpic)

10:56p computer help
A girl I knwo at work who normally gives me a ride home today told me that if my BF could fix a laptop, he could have it. BF doesn't knwo that much about computers but they, hey, why not. I get home, plug it in, start it up and...the screens green.
It took me all of five seconds to notice the screen was magnitized. When the boot up screen came on it had weird black shadow. Seems liek the hard drive works fine (I was able to load windows in safe mode) but it takes forever for things to load. Plus the OS is password locked and the girl from work either didn't know or dind't give me the password.
Plus the thing is heavy as hell.
It's a dell insperon 4000 (referb) with a 700mhz P3 processor, 128 ram, 20GB hard drive. Model # pp01L (That model number is coming up lattitue, but the computer says insperon so *Shrug*)
Now we have no idea what to do with it. I only got it to boot up in safe mode, and then got blocke by the pasword. I sent a text to the girl saying it was magnitized, but I;m not sure if it's jsut the screen or the rest of hte computer. BF wants to junk it, but we also had been looking into getitng an older computer to install linux on to get a feel for it before putting it on a computer we'd use day-to-day.
Wehavniea on how to fix it, or even dispose of it if we cna't fix it.
